| about the cd |
You Can Buy It Now on CD Baby![]() Swingin' Marmalukeys are an eclectic string band who play cowboy gypsy party music. Cowboy; like Bob Wills, Gypsy; like Django Reinhardt, and Party; like Dr. John. The basic trio is Brook Adams on Guitar and Ukulele, Tim Miller on Bass and Ukulele, and Jon Neher on Dobro, Soprano Sax and Mandolin. We have an occasional fourth Marmalukey, Sylvain DuPlant who plays Guitar, Bass and Accordion. Tight swingin' rhythm from Tim and Brook and red hot solos from Jon are complimented by strong vocal harmonies to make a swing dancers delight. Our original tunes are written to sound like period pieces on acid like Brook's Gypsy swingin' "Party In The Cemetery", a true story except for the part about zombies. Jon Neher's second-line funk "Down to New Orleans" recalls the Nevilles. And "Call Me Back", a straw hatted, canoe paddlin' '20s moon-june-spoon tune(It actually uses all those words). | |||
| m01 Party In The Cemetery | The pioneer cemetery behind University of Oregon, just blocks away from the annual Halloween Frat Party Riots, is a place where people ...party! | |||
| m02 New Orleans | Jon Neher wrote this one about the greatest American city. | |||
| m03 Wonderful World | Tim on lead vocals here. I never get tired of this tune... and thats why youre hearing it now. | |||
| m04 Remington Ride | Herb Remington was one of the later steel players for Bob Wills and he wrote this swell tune with Hank Penny. | |||
